Computer Applications has been one of the most demanding skill-based career options in recent times as almost everything now has to be tech enabled and the use of the internet has now entered in almost every field the demand for this course is expected to go even higher in the coming times.

In practice a student of Computer Applications can be compared to a student studying Engineering in Computer Science or Information Technology.

Who can study Computer Applications?

Eligibility:

Subject Requirement:  Any stream (Arts, Science, Commerce) with English as a compulsory subject.

There are many colleges and universities that ask Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects for admissions in the BCA courses.

Mathematics is a very important subject while studying Computer Applications so students having Mathematics or Statistics at 10+2 or equivalent level are suggested to pursue this course.

Age Limit:  There is no particular Age limit for this course, still at College/University level there are different age limits set by the Institutes so the students are advised to kindly go through the same before applying for admissions.

Educational Qualification:  Class 10+2 or its equivalent.

Marks Requirement:  For different Entrance Examinations, Colleges and Universities there are different minimum marks required for admission in class 10+2 or its equivalent.

Course:  BCA or Bachelor of Computer Application

Governing Body:  All India Council for Technical Education or AICTE.

Although the Masters in Computer Applications or MCA is provided by the NITs and other top colleges in India, even at BCA level there are some decent colleges/Universities.

Please note that to excel in this field one must develop very good coding and development skills for an awesome career. This is a more skill-based and less a theoretical importance career option.

SET (General): The Symbiosis Entrance Test or SET (General) is conducted for the BCA and various other undergraduate courses offered at Symbiosis Institute of Computer Science and Research, Pune.

This is one of the most desired private universities for students in India.

IPU CET:  Since Delhi has a lot of scope in BCA since a lot of tech startups etc are based in Delhi NCR the BCA course offered by the colleges of IP university has been gaining importance.

The Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test or IPU CET is conducted by the Indraprastha Technical University for admissions into BCA and various other undergraduate and postgraduate courses in its affiliated colleges.

UGAT:  The AIMA UGAT Or Undergraduate Admission Test conducted by the All India Management Association or AIMA is taken as admission criteria for admissions in the various BCA, BBA and other undergraduate degree courses by many private colleges and universities in India.
